![]() ![]() ![]() If it had those functionalities, I think it would be extremely useful. If a Project cleaning tool were added, that's how I personally would want it to work. Of course, for this tool to be complete, it would need to be a sort of universal project-file-management tool which shows ALL files in the project folder, including non-Inventor files, and allows us to mark them as "Used by Project". This would greatly help organization, because we we could come back at any time and see an updated list of "Not Used" files, but it would be un-cluttered by files that we already decided we want to keep. Any file within the Project Folder which isn't in the "Used by Project" list would be listed in the "Not Used" list. And there could be an indicator of whether a file is in the "Used by Project" list because it was marked so manually, or because it's referenced by another file in the Used by Project list. It would be super handy if we could mark certain files as "Used by Project", and Inventor would add those files (and any files they reference) to a "Used by Project" list. Then we could go through the "Not Used" folder and delete or move as desired. zip file and copy the appropriate files into the WinMerge program folder as per the instructions on the plugin page. It would be nice if, within the Design Assistant, we could say "Look at these specific Drawings, Assemblies, Presentations, etc., and show me which files they use within the Project folder, and also show me all the files in the Project Folder which they don't use". The plugin installation isn't one-click - be sure to extract the. ![]() The tool we use to do this is WinMerge ( ), and it works very well.Īll that said, it would be nice if there were some built-in tools in the Design Assistant for doing all of this work but without the extra overhead of creating a pack-and-go copy, using third-party software, comparing, deleting, replacing, etc. be they non-Inventor files (AutoCAD drawings, Word docs, Excel files, etc.), other revisions of components that we want to keep, or an Inventor component which we forgot about that wasn't included in the main assembly. Sometimes there are important files that aren't included in the Pack-and-Go. We've done something similar to which works well, but added in the extra step of using a folder comparison tool to compare the Pack-and-Go to the original, so we can determine precisely which files are "extra". ![]()
